Zenpep

Breezy has been waiting for months to get a prescription to Zenpep. And it finally happened : ) She was given samples when her Creon10 seemed to stop working as well as it had in the past and she fell in love with them right away. It is so funny to think that a 5 year old would be excited about a prescription but her stomach hurts everytime she eats and the enzymes put an end to the pain. The Zenpep caps look like huge horse pills in her little hands but the are pink and white and oh so cool to Breezy. We had to wait a few months to get an actual prescription because Zenpep is newer that some of the other medications that she has been on and were not automatically approved like her creon or ultrace enzymes. But she has them now and she couldn't be happier. She tells me they work better..is anyone else using Zenpep?

Lucy started taking Zenpep over a month ago, but we had a rocky start. The insurance we have wouldn't approve the name brand Zenpep at first, and would only approve the generic Zenpep (made by the same pharmaceutical company). Even though we knew that generic enzymes, in most CF cases, don't work effectively, we decided to give it a try anyway since it was such a new product and maybe, just maybe, the generic would work. It went horribly! Lucy, with the generics, had horrible stomach and absorption issues like stomach ache, up to 10 poops a day, and even another rectal prolapse. We had to fight with the insurance company a little bit, but we finally got the name brand Zenpep, and now Lucy is doing GREAT! It has greatly improved her bowel problems as compared to Creon, Pancrecarb. We are so happy with it now that all the kinks have been worked out! :)

Lucy has the really tiny Zenpep 5,000. They are white pills and very small making it so easy to swallow. I really hope the Zenpep works out for Breezy in the long term! :)

Glad to hear she likes them! We had always had problems with Creon in the past. Azer has been on Pancrecarb for such a long time, I'm really stressed about switching to another enzyme, but I've been hearing good things about the Zenpep, so I hope we get to try it when our prescription runs out!
